Spring flowers for a Ballerina

It is amazing what one week can do.  I had 9 photoshoots last week and was also super busy with the day job. No rest for the weary.  I wanted to share some of what I have been working on. I am experimenting with different lighting techniques and doing a lot more storyboarding in my preparation for a shoot.

That said, I love the spontaneity of shoots and letting the personality of subjects drive the results. So this last minute shoot with Jimena Flores Sanchez, a ballerina here in Seattle had reached out about spending some time shooting and I had a little time at the end of another shoot to spend with her.  I have never shot these specific kinds of movement before and I was very conscious that not only I wanted to make some lovely portraits I wanted to let her be a ballerina. However, it is really important with ballerinas that photos accurately represent the kind of poses and forms that make the art what it is.  We had a few misses but a lot of exciting wins as well.  Check out the gallery below and let me know what you think.
